Answers to Questions from LJ & SK
My favorite food so far has been “mixed
vegetable puloa” that I ate twice prepared by the Queen of Kerala
Cuisine. It has rice, spices (cardamom, cloves, garlic, butter,
onion, ginger, cinnamon, bay leaves, carrot, cauliflower, beans,
green peppers, coconut oil, cashews, and raisins. I took a picture
of you beside the dish! I think you'd love it, and I have the
recipe!
I think I've like Burma the most so
far, since the country was closed off to the rest of the world for so
long, and has only recently “opened up.” It's not that I like
the fact that they were closed off, but because of this, they were
very happy and appreciative to see others that I found most
delightful. In the places I've been so far—Singapore, Burma, and
India, the shortest people are the Burmese.
The food I like the least is the food
on the ship. Breakfast is best, lunch is second best, but dinner is
very boring. The food in the dining hall is already paid for in my
voyage fee, so I tend to eat there. However, upstairs on deck seven
they serve special order hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, etc. Only
pizza sounds good to me of those three choices. They do have
smoothies and great mango yogurt which I like and get occasionally.
Tomorrow the LLLs are having a special meal together where we sit
down in a dining room and are served. It will be “interesting”
to see if the food tastes special or not!
I think you remember that I have volunteered in countries overseas and have been able to have good conversations with the people with whom I work about their lives. The part I dislike about this trip is that it really is more of a tour, and I don't get to talk to people over any length of time.
The tallest people I've met are the
American kids and one teacher- a former basketball player-- on the ship!
