March 5 post

Shortly after I last posted, I discovered I didn't have sea sickness. That was the good news, but the bad news was that I had traveler's diarrhea which took up quite a bit of my time! I made my way down to the clinic on board, and they immediately hooked me up to an IV to rehydrate me. After a few hours and few shots while there, they brought me back up to my room to rest. (Well, there really was no other choice.) Apparently, more than 50 people on board have been sick, and they are trying to trace what might of caused this. I had to fill out a sheet describing what I ate, when and where I ate it. So the medical team has a little research project going. I realized while I was in the clinic with the IV dripping that I have never had traveler's diarrhea before! Daddy Andy, I caught up to you!

I watched the evening program in the “union” on my television last night. The Arch was part of a panel asking “Can you change the world?” The major themes from this discussion urged young people to be curious—listen and observe the world; dream about changing the system—(the way things are that are broken or bad) and work so that the world becomes closer to the way God wanted it to be. Find others who care about the things you care about and work together. Working in isolation—all by yourself—isn't very fulfilling or productive. We have forgotten we humans are a family, and we need to ask “What do you want? What do you need?” Above all, be humble and don't get a BIG head!

Tomorrow we dock at Cochin, India (south west side of that huge place on your map). In order words, tomorrow is a port day and today is a sea day, but I can't remember if it's an A or B day because it really didn't matter to me. For me, is was a sick day!
