The Alexander houses are back of my motel

This week has been "Modernist" week in Palm Springs, because it has many examples of housing and buildings in the "Modern" style--or the "house of the future"....It's only one storey high and generally flat  roofed -- sometimes with an angle.  Right behind the motel where I'm staying is a subdivision with houses named after an architect, Bob Alexander, who thought this style could be made on a small scale with three houses to one acre.   Bob's dad didn't think it was a good idea, but he gave Bob a 3 acre lot, and Bob took a chance and built ten houses on it.  They were immediately sold and so many were built in back of the motel.  Notice the old cars?
